This week sees the relaunch of the ‘Friends Reunited’ site, which has been left behind and overshadowed by the likes of Facebook and Twitter.
The relaunch appears to focus the site on Nostalgia, maybe a niche where the website will make a comeback focussed on a particular deomgraphic that the marketing team at Friends Reunited have researched.
The point is though, the team at Friends Reunited has identified that in order to keep ‘in the running’ and ‘in business’ that their website was perhaps long overdue a refresh and update – sound familiar?

Gone Fishing?
LDR Web Design was commissioned to redevelop a website for Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society (LEVAS). LEVAS have been established for over 100 years and we were thrilled to be brought on board to assist in the website redevelopment. The previous LEVAS website received high traffic and was an important tool for the society to communicate with its members and to share information on match fixtures and results, locations of fishing waters and forum for members to discuss inside knowledge of waters etc.
Unfortunately, the previous site had been lost due to an issue with the domain name. It is LDR Web Design’s policy to register domain names on behalf of clients but with their details to prevent any issues in future. We believe that dealing open and honestly with clients helps to strengthen long term relationships.
The new website featured images from LEVAS itself as we were keen to reflect the spirit of the society and knew from our consultation with LEVAS that the website is a key asset of the society and a huge benefit for its members and prospective new members.
The site is a content management site so that LEVAS can upload regular content such as news stories, forthcoming fixtures, match results as they happen and photographs from members.

Here are a few simple tips to help you get started:
1. A good website can not only attract new customers to your business, but is generally the first port of call for your customers, clients and members. It’s essential that your website reflects the professionalism of your business as you will be judged on its appearance and content. Customers will generally search for your website in advance of engaging in custom with you, to check out your products and services and to find out more about you. If your business or current website cannot be found then you’re missing out on passing trade. How many potential clients are you losing that you don’t even know about?
2. From Business Adviser to Web Designer
Welcome to LDR Web Design’s Blog, after months of preparation and absorbing all of the advice sought from colleagues and business gurus alike, I have started trading! Based in Nottingham, I provide great websites for local businesses and sports clubs at affordable prices. From my background in trade association management, I’ve been lucky to work with and provide support services to all kinds of businesses. Most recently my work as a Business Adviser has given me first-hand experience of helping businesses start-up and it has also been my inspiration to start my own business.
Pinching a few tips from Saira Khan at the recent Mansfield and Ashfield Bix-Ex
I’ve been fortunate to have been involved with website development projects for organisations in the past from a client perspective, focusing on functionality and website management. From there I gained an interest in web design and dramatically developed my website design and social media skills, to the point where I started to receive requests to be involved in web design projects. So turning this into my own business was really a ‘no-brainer’!
I believe that my background of working with a variety of organisations, all with different needs and requirements, compliments my web design skills meaning that I can easily understand my client’s requirements from the outset, which is essential when providing the initial web design concepts. I also consider my customer service and communication skills to enhance client relationships throughout the project period and I’m keen not to disappear behind my computer once a pitch has been won!
